Stevens County stretches from Spokane's northern commuter edge into farm valleys, forest country and the Columbia River reservoir system.

Colville anchors county government in the northeastern interior, where the Colville River valley provides workable ground through forested uplands. The Colville River valley supports farms, homes and transportation routes through terrain otherwise broken by forested uplands.
