Satus, Washington — Watershed Community on the Yakama Reservation

Satus is organized by water and reservation geography more than by streets.

Satus Creek runs from the Simcoe Mountains toward the Yakima River through the Yakama Indian Reservation, connecting tribal land, farms and rural homes. The drainage belongs to a Yakama geography much older than modern roads, parcels or irrigation works.

Irrigation later intensified agriculture across lower portions of the valley, and settlement followed the same workable corridor without producing a conventional municipal core.

Mountain watershed, reservation land and cultivated valley meet along the creek. That shared geography is the center of Satus.
