Gromore, Washington — Where Yakima Starts Giving Way to the Foothills

Gromore lies west of Yakima in the zone where irrigated valley agriculture begins climbing toward drier foothill country.

That transition is visible from the road. Orchards, farms and rural homes occupy the better-watered ground, while the landscape becomes more open and less forgiving as elevation and distance from the valley floor increase.

Yakima is close enough to dominate shopping, employment and public life, so Gromore never needed to develop as a separate town. What it retained instead was a rural identity on the city's western edge.
