Burbank Heights occupies higher ground near Burbank and the meeting place of the Snake and Columbia river systems.

The “Heights” is literal rather than promotional. Residential development spread onto elevated ground as the Tri-Cities region grew and people sought larger parcels within commuting distance of Pasco and the surrounding employment centers.

Irrigation and transportation had already transformed the broader landscape. Suburban growth added another layer without necessarily bringing incorporation with it.

Burbank Heights therefore functions as a neighborhood more than a separate historic town. Its residents share roads, schools and daily life with the broader Burbank area while living on the higher ground that supplied the name.

Sometimes local geography is refreshingly straightforward: Burbank is below; Burbank Heights is up.
