Diamond Lake, Washington — Lake Is the Neighborhood

Diamond Lake is not a town that happens to contain water.

The water organizes the community.

Homes and cabins follow the shoreline southwest of Newport, with roads curving around the lake instead of converging on a downtown.

Many properties began as seasonal retreats and became year-round residences as roads, utilities and commuting made lake living more practical.

Fishing, boating and summer visitors increase activity during warmer months, while winter changes the rhythm.

Diamond Lake is therefore a substantial inhabited community without municipal boundaries or a traditional center.

The lake occupies the middle.

Everything else wraps around it.
