Seven Bays, Washington — Dam Created the Waterfront

Seven Bays is a shoreline community built around a shoreline that did not exist in its modern form until Grand Coulee Dam changed the Columbia.

Lake Roosevelt flooded the old river corridor and created more than a hundred miles of reservoir edge. Homes, marina facilities and recreation development later occupied pieces of that new geography.

Boating and fishing now shape much of the community's visible relationship with the water, giving Seven Bays a history fundamentally different from Lincoln County's railroad-and-wheat towns.

Trains did not create the reason to settle here. A federal dam manufactured the waterfront.
