Konkolville sits near Orofino along the Clearwater River corridor, close enough to depend on the city without actually being the city.

The locality takes its name from the Konkol family and developed as a residential neighborhood on roads and slopes outside Orofino's municipal center.

That modest history is the right one.

There was no mining rush to invent, no railroad empire and no lost courthouse. People built homes near a town, a family name attached itself to the area and the neighborhood persisted.
