Riverdale, Idaho — Homes Between the Rivers and the Hills

Riverdale sits northwest of St. Maries where residential ground is squeezed between the river system and the forested slopes surrounding the valley.

That terrain matters. St. Maries occupies one of northern Idaho's relatively scarce pieces of usable valley floor, and development naturally followed the same ground beyond the incorporated city.

Riverdale became part of that outward residential pattern, but its identity is more geographic than civic. Roads and homes occupy the narrow transition between the county seat and steeper timber country.

Daily life remains closely tied to St. Maries for work, shopping and services.

What separates Riverdale from the city is not a dramatic change in landscape. It is the point where valley geography keeps allowing houses even after municipal government has stopped drawing streets on its own map.
